the food service brings back memories of the 70's & 80's before it was "simplified" by the wtbts.. it would seem that the 60's & early 70's were very much a golden era for the society , before the 1975 debacle.

I was there! How did we manage 8 days, 9 am till 9 pm, trying to read your songbook in the dark for the final song? We did have an afternoon off as I recall, we went on to trip to the British Museum!
Met a very nice young sister from Leeds, still have her photos somewhere. A couple of years later she did a runner, left home, left the 'truth'. Wise girl.

it strongly bothers, upsets and irritates me that they call it judicial committee!!!
as if it's a real supreme court with real lawyers and judges.
are they even aloud to call it judicial???.
In a real court of law, you are allowed to be legally represented, you are allowed to take notes, and an official transcript of the proceedings is made for inspection.
In a JC none of these things are allowed.

one of the things i really like about being out of the cult is that i no longer have to go to those long, boring district conventions.
instead, i can do other things with my new family (fiancee and soon to be step son).
we were out and about sunday, i had taken the day off from work, no point in bothering people with collections on a sunday and a holiday.. we had planned to go to a suburb of st. louis, mo (st. charles) and see some of the vendors on the riverfront in the afternoon and then wait for the fireworks in the evening .
Never wear one personally! Never worn one for years. Regretably it annoys the wife but no one else seems bothered. Those that know me know my name; those that don't know me probably don't want to know my name anyway.

That chapter of Matthew lists all 42 generations from Abraham down to Jesus. This is over about 2018 years so the average generation was 2018/42 = 48 years long!
The current 'Franz' generation is now 117 years long. No wonder people are disputing it.

When I was younger I had my hair 'over the collar', then a 'crew' cut. Now I'm old and thin on top I have it as short as possible. No one has ever commented on it.
I regularly see Mormons witnessing near where I live; their hair seems to be conforming to prescribed standards though.

i wonder if anyone actually enjoys them.
i have heard scattered reports about how a few actually enjoyed at least a few of the older songs (back when there were 225 of them).
but i have heard nothing but reports of the new songs being impossible to properly sing, very poorly written or performed, or downright blasphemous and promoting blatant idolatry.
Absolutely awful! Most of the people in my congregation prefer the old songs, though I was told off by an elder for making critical comments of the GB regarding the songs! If you want a bit of 'religious' music then I quite like this:

i understand that the number of people who join the wt is roughly equal to the number of people who leave.
there's a small difference, overall, but in some countries the number of those leaving might even be slightly above the number of those joining.
and this has been a problem for ever.. i would like some insight into the minds of those who stay in, not because of family reasons, not because of fear, old age, parental control, but because they really believe the scam.

how many jw's would take the time, if they even take the time to read the brochure, to check out these references in the bibliography.. how fast can a cell reproduce?

I once checked a reference in the 1970's to 'Origin of the species', I intended to show it to a non believing friend of mine. I was stunned when I read it, it was of course accurate but completely taken out of context. Needless to say I never did show it to him!
